I don't think this exists yet so I decided to make one. People have been talking about wanting to make improvements to DoC for a while so I figured we could compile them in this thread. My suggestions: - DoC should be advertised as a party mode, not a competition. Making people fight for rewards just makes everyone participate separately. Everyone in a party inside DoC should qualify for a reward as long as they reach a certain amount of points / kills. Also, ranged or support classes would be able to participate a lot better with a group.
- Reorganize levels, make it: Tier 1 -> 10-29, Tier 2 -> 30-49, Tier 3 -> 50-69, Tier 4 -> 70-99, Tier 5 -> 100+ (or add an extreme Tier 6 for 150+)
- Tier 4 and up should have almost guaranteed dark scroll rewards (>80% chance of a 70/30). That might seem too high except for the fact that plenty of those scrolls are exclusively obtainable through DoC. There could be a market for those high-value scrolls if its feasible to try farming them.
- Give DoC mobs meso drops.
- Get rid of any dispelling mobs (sharks). There's no counter-play to losing mg / hb and then getting 1shot.

I definitely agree with the majority of your suggestions here.
I'd probably scale and have it have one extra reward per tier. As it is now, it seems reasonable (if expensive) to solo the first two tiers, but after that, it really deserves a party.
I'm not sure what I would do to address viability of ranged classes (especially minimum range)

As it stands, ranged classes should be able to do fine in tiers 1 and 2, but the higher tiers are just ridiculous. Archers do have arrow rain/eruption which makes them not completely useless,but I do think hermit can't use any skills right next to a mob. In order for ranged classes to be able to participate effectively, it would really seem allowing party play is the easiest fix. Also, for higher tiers, we could consider reducing the amount of mobs that spawn per wave. I agree with all the OP points. Also. WE NEED NEW MUSIC. lightsoulms.boards.net/thread/84/dimension-chaos-music

I agree with the points made in the opening post and feel like going over my thoughts about them 1 by 1
1. It has always struck me as a problem that DoC discourages partying, This is a very oldschool style maple server (where a good party is significantly more efficient than soloing, at least to my knowledge) that as far as I can tell wants to be community focused. Why the heck does one of the major features discourage partying? It just never made any sense to me. So yes please give every participant that qualifies a prize.
2: The Tiers extremely need to be reworked, as it stands the only ones that make sense are 1 and 2. the rest are just such massive level increases that it basically shuts you out of using the feature entirely for 40ish levels, it just doesn't make sense to me to have something so unique and (given some of the scrolls that are only prizes from DoC) potentially required for progression cut off for such massive chunks of time. As for the Tiers proposed by griffin those are much better, and I will say that I would love a 150+ Tier to still exist purely because I'd like to see what kind of crazy mobs would spawn there. One last note about Tiers, one idea to make DoC better is instead of automatically being placed in a Tier based of your level you could instead choose which Tier you would enter, so that if you're not strong enough for your current Tier the feature doesn't become completely useless to you.
3. Increasing the quality of rewards in the higher Tiers makes a lot of sense to me, since the later Tiers are more difficult and take a much longer time to reach. It would also make it less worthwhile to create a character to farm the lower Tiers.
4. This I'm not entirely certain I agree with, I understand that DoC would still be a pot burn even if mobs did drop mesos but I feel like the fact that they don't really emphasizes it as the logical conclusion of a feature that burns mesos for exp.
5. Sharks (and other dispelling mobs) just shouldn't be in DoC, they heavily punish Magicians for no real reason and no real benefit, as it stands the only way for a Magician to survive being dispelled and one shot is to get enough hp to survive a hit, which boils down to adding a bunch of ap into hp and scrolling a second set of equipment for hp, things no other class archetype has to do just to be able to use the feature (at least I think thieves can get enough hp from leveling to survive 1 hit, i might be mistaken but at least they have avoid)
As for potential concerns about making DoC overpowered consider that at present it's really only good for certain classes in certain level ranges and even then only if you can afford to burn the mesos on it, in short most people don't bother with it because it's just not worth it. Even if you buff it it's not like everyone's going to be running it every time it opens and flooding the market with the good prizes, players are going to find their character too weak for their current Tier, or need a party and can't find one, or not have enough mesos to spare, or be too busy doing something else (both in game and irl),or not have a Ticket, or otherwise not be able to run it every time.
We don't exactly have the biggest population anyways so yes even if the higher Tiers usually gave one of the DoC only scrolls as a reward I really can't see it flooding the market, and as it stands those scrolls are so rare you might as well pretend they don't exist. As it stands now the most sensible way to try and farm them is to make a thief mule and get Dark Sight and use that to survive Tier 1, or if you think the number of kills affects the quality of the reward make a swordsman or something to properly farm Tier 1.
In short DoC currently feels like an alpha or beta, a work in progress in other words, and I'd really like to see it worked on because it's a very unique idea that currently just does not matter as much as it should.
